Press Shift-F1 to display the Reveal Formatting panel to see all formatting in the current selection.For your situation, it would reveal section breaks that could give a clue about the page numbering (a section attribute). This will let you see whether white space is a series of space characters or tabs whether a line ends with a paragraph break or a "ne line" character where a picture is anchored - and much more. Click the ¶ button or press Ctrl-Shift-8 to toggle visibility of non-printing symbols. Just fyi, when you have a problem with Word, always turn on the many visual cues available to let you see what is happening "below" the print layout view. If it is set to "Start at 1", change it to "Continue from previous section". You can easily confirm this by going to the heading in your document that ends with "haltens (TBD)" and checking the setting in the Page Number Format dialog. Without seeing the details of your document, from your screenshot I suspect that your content is set within different sections, and that you have the page number formatting set to start at 1 in each section.Īlthough your 2nd screenshot shows what appears to be sequential numbers >2, it isn't clear if those pages contain any of the heading content that appears in your ToC with 1 and 2 as the numbers.
